This Privacy Policy explains how Join in, ("Join in", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use the Join in app (the "Service"). We are the data controller for this processing.

1. Data We Collect

2. How We Use Your Data
- To operate core features: creating, browsing, and joining sessions, and messaging other users
- To show you nearby sessions on the map (Mapbox) based on your location
- To send push notifications about session activity, invitations, and join requests
- To send transactional emails, for example report confirmations
- To understand app usage and improve the product (PostHog)
- To diagnose crashes and bugs (Sentry)
3. Location Data
We use foreground location (only while the app is open) to show you nearby sessions and to power the map view. Location is not collected in the background. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time, though this will limit or disable location-dependent features.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. International Data Transfers
Some of our processors may store or process data outside Germany and the EU. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR if you are in the EEA or UK), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

8. Children's Privacy
Join in is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@joinin.club and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls on our backend. No system is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
